Police chief: ‘Bad guys' use Facebook, too

FERNDALE — Police Chief Michael Kitchen is advising parents to supervise their children’s Internet use after a birthday party for teenage girls at the VFW Hall ended with a 16-year-old boy shot to death and another critically injured by the same bullet.

A “Sweet 16” birthday party Dec. 18 for two Ferndale High School girls was overrun by uninvited gang members who heard about the party on Facebook, according to Kitchen.
